 Game Day - Wednesdays, April 2, 16 & 30 until 4:00 PM

 

Wednesday afternoons are Game Day at the library. Teens ages 12 and up can come every other Wednesday to play one of several games on our new PS2 game system, which will be projected onto our large screen in our meeting room. Come to play, compete, or just to hang out. Choose from Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution: American Idol, and Dance Dance Revolution Supernova.

 

 Swing Dance Lessons - Tuesdays, April 8, 15 & 29 from 6:30PM to 8:00 PM

 

To help prepare for the Plain City Big Band Dance on May 2, the Friends of the Plain City Public Library will be sponsoring a series of free swing dance lessons at the library, April 8th, 15th, and 29th from 6:30PM to 8PM. As space is limited, registration is required. Both couples and singles may register.

 
 

Read-a-Thon - Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15 from 3PM to 5PM

 
Kids and teens ages 17 and under - pay down your overdue fines by reading in the library! Visit the library during National Library Week for a chance to earn credit towards your overdue fines. On April 14 and 15 from 3-5 PM, come to the Library’s large meeting room and earn $1.00 off your fines for every 30 minutes you read. Bring your own reading material or select from ours.

Plain City Big Band Dance - Friday, May 2 from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM

 

Take a step back in time at the Plain City Big Band Dance on Friday, May 2nd at the St. Joseph Event Facility on 140 West Main St. Doors will open at 6:30PM with the opening ceremony beginning at 7PM. The live dance band Classic Swing will be playing vintage dance favorites until 10PM. Admission to the Plain City Big Band Dance is free thanks to the generous sponsors of The Convalarium at Indian Run and the Friends of the Plain City Public Library. Dancers of all expertise and spectators are welcome and encouraged to dress in 1940s style attire. During the dance enjoy light refreshments while watching a pictorial slide show display featuring historic Plain City in the 1940s and 50s. There will also be a picture honor roll of local veterans.

Summer Reading Kickoff: Featuring the Mark Wood Fun Show - Monday, June 16 at 2:00 PM

 

Kick off the summer right! Stop by the library on the first day of the Summer Reading Program and grab a bag of goodies. Stay and be entertained by Mark Wood, a comedy and magic program for all ages that will begin at 2:00. After the show, stay for refreshments! No registration is required.

 
     

Teen Book Club - Tuesday, June 17 at 3:00 PM

 

Enjoy refreshments and discussion at PCPL's book club for teens ages 12 and up. Call the library for title information. Registration is required.

 
 

American Gladiator - Thursday, June 19 at 11:00 AM

 

Teens ages 12-15 are invited to take part in a series of challenges, both outside and in, to determine who will compete against the librarians to be named Plain City’s Gladiator. This program will last until approximately 2:30 PM. Lunch will be included. Registration is required.

 
 

Ohio Wildlife Center: Wildlife Encounters - Thursday, June 26 at 2:00 PM

 
 

Visit with some of Ohio’s wildest residents with the Ohio Wildlife Center. Learn about the wild animals that live in Ohio and ways we can better share our state with them. No registration is required.
