Library Grand Reopening Scheduled for May 23
The Plain City Public Library will reopen its doors to the public on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 during its Grand Reopening from 7-9pm. Members of the community are invited to experience the complete interior renovation of the Library. Enhancements include new technology and additional multipurpose spaces with a freshly imagined children’s reading area, featuring hints of a tree canopy and soft clover underfoot, secretly nestled inside the library.
An exclusive invitation-only donor preview will be held on Tuesday, May 22 for community members who have participated in the Library’s Adopt-a-Bookshelf fundraiser. These donors will be invited to have the first look at the newly renovated library and to find their adopted shelf and message before the completed project is open to the public. It’s not too late to become a donor! For a one-time $50 donation, participants will use the area under a bookshelf to hand write a signature, message, original art or dedication. To adopt a bookshelf, simply visit plaincitylib.org/adoptabookshelf to donate online, print a Paper Application, or visit the library by May 14. We appreciate this opportunity to grow a library for you!
The Library will be closed during the move beginning May 3, 2018 until its evening reopening on May 23, 2018. The Library’s bookdrop will be available at our permanent location beginning Monday, May 7. Until then, patrons are to continue to use the bookdrop outside of the Library’s temporary location at 249 W Main St. The Library will resume regular operating hours of Monday-Thursday 10-9 and Friday-Saturday 10-6 beginning on Thursday, May 24. No fines will be incurred between May 3 and May 23. Holds will be suspended on May 1 but will be reinstated before we reopen on May 24.
The Library’s digital library and on-line catalog will remain live during this closure.
