Did you know…
Children begin developing reading skills at birth? Promote those skills every day with the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program!
Research shows that the most reliable predictor of school success is being read to during early childhood. Reading to children from an early age can help close the vocabulary gap and prepare children to enter kindergarten with the skills they need to succeed. Most importantly, sharing books with children promotes a lifelong love of books and reading.
Sharing just one book a night gives your child the building blocks for lifelong success. Start whenever you like and begin reading, with the goal of reading 1,000 books before your child starts kindergarten. You’ll even receive rewards along the way to encourage your little one to keep reading!
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is available to all families with children between the ages of birth and five years. Visit the library or contact our staff to get started today!
